Termly pattern

Going deeper with God is an emphasis at St George's which is reflected in our termly structure. Each term begins with our prayer meeting, Church Central. During Lent, we are also putting on a series of 'Let's pray' events on Wednesday evenings. Look out for further details below.

Please join us at St George's for one of our events coming up. See details below or pick up a term card from church. You can also take a look at our Calendar as well as photos of past events on our Flickr page.

Newcomers' Events

If you are new to St George's, we'd love to meet you. Please fill in one of our 'Hello' cards (in church or online) so that we can invite you along to our next newcomer event. Then we can tell you more about the church - our history, mission, values and ministries.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

Morning Prayer

Mondays to Fridays 8.15-8.45am during term time

Informal prayer in church.

Little Halos

Fridays 10.00am-12.00pm during term time

A weekly parent and toddler group open to all the community.

Let's Pray events

Wednesdays 8 March - 5 April 7.00pm
Various locations around Holborn

Focusing on prayer, with four sessions based around Mark Batterson's The Circle Maker. Another session will look at Islam, and how we as Christians can best engage with the Muslim community. We have the privilege of having Malcolm Finley with us, who is an expert in this area.

This is our core weekday activity for the church this term and we are really excited about it. We'll be meeting at different locations across Holborn to worship, learn, chat, laugh and - most importantly - pray!

Email us for further information.

Gather // Breakfast with Shelly Miller

Saturday 25 March 10.00am

Join us for a morning with Shelly Miller, author of Rhythms of Rest, a book all about finding 'the rest of Sabbath in a busy world'. The morning will consist of breakfast, worship, a talk from Shelly plus time for reflection and ministry.

We'd love for you to join us!

The most important disclaimer for the morning is this: it is absolutely not about adding to your to-do list or setting out a series of impossible standards. As Shelly says, "Sabbath is not about resting perfectly but resting in the One who is perfect."

There will be giveaways of Shelly's book on the day... watch this space!

Tickets are free but you will need to RSVP through Eventbrite for catering purposes. There is also the option of donating money towards a ticket to help with costs. Suggested donation is £5.00.

If you have any questions, just drop us a line at gather@stgholborn.org

Church Camp

Friday 5 - Sunday 7 May
Restore Hope Latimer (easily accessible on the Metropolitan line)

This is a very warm invitation to our church community to go camping!

A key element is the sheer opportunity of being together, and hanging out in a very relaxed way. Whether we are morning or evening at St George's, single or with a large tribe, friends with Abraham and the apostles all our lives or pretty ambivalent about faith - come and contribute to our shared life together.

We do have some pretty spectacular speakers:

  • Matthew Frost used to be CEO of Tearfund and has just completed a bit of work for Archbishop Justin Welby and the General Synod (parliament) of the Church of England, which has been described as the most revolutionary since the Reformation;
  • Andy Piercy used to be part of Earth, Wind and Fire (for anyone who can remember that far back), then headed up worship at HTB, and now trains worship leaders in the US and the UK. He specialises in helping traditional churches and more contemporary churches learn from each other in their worship;
  • Annie McTighe is a pioneer minister on the Olympic Park, and one of the most creative and effective priests at working with communities without a church building.

There is plenty of space outside the main sessions, children's work provided, opportunity for prayer, fun activities, barbecues or just relaxing.

We really hope you can come! We are going for a relaxed, camping kind of feel. Costs are low (but please don't let expense keep you and your family away), facilities are simple but more than adequate (with optional upgrades for those who would prefer), and it should be a lot of fun. And the sun should be shining…

See you there!

Please email the church office for further details and a link to the booking form.
